The most beautiful waiting room in Germany

The picturesque spa town of Radolfzell on Lake Constance, with its 27,000 inhabitants, not only has the longest accessible stretch of shore on Lake Constance, but also the highest church tower on the entire lake. This is located at the Cathedral of Our Lady, the town’s landmark, which stands where Bishop Radolf founded “Cella Ratoldi” in 826. In 1267, Radolfzell was granted town rights and, with its connection to the rail network, developed into the most important industrial center on the entire Untersee, a part of Lake Constance. One of the main attractions and also the most beautiful waiting room in Germany is the magnificent flowering city garden in the heart of Radolfzell. This city garden, which was a gift to the city from Karl Wolf, director of the Gotthard Allweiler AG pump factory, was laid out in 1924 in the former city moat along the medieval city wall. Here you will also find the Höllturm, a huge round tower on the northeast corner, and the Pulverturm, a round tower on the east side of the old city wall. In addition to native plants, year-round flowering perennials, and a water lily pond with goldfish, there is also a magnificent music pavilion. In addition, since 2016, a bronze statue of Werner Messmer, long-time patron and honorary citizen of Radolfzell, has stood in the front part of the city garden. It was created by sculptor Friedhelm Zilly. The city garden of the resort town of Radolfzell on Lake Constance is a beautiful garden oasis in the old city moat, which sweetened my stay in the picturesque spa town of Radolfzell on Lake Constance.
